Hello Gracepoint!
The day that the money was distributed, Austin was not feeling to good so he asked if he could attend church with Matt and I instead of WOW. You can imagine how blown away he was when he was given an envelope of money. His first question was can I give it to my twin buds. After the quik response of "No" from Dad and Mom, he still claimed that this was "Totally Awesome" and began to work to see what was in his envelope.
On the way home, Austin and Kate opened the envelopes and quickly found that we had received three envelopes with a $50 in each. Here is the story of our three $50's.
1st: The first $50 was given to two young girls at the Woman's fair. They appeared to be between 8 - 10 years old and you can image their shock. Neither girl had a jacket or coat on and both seem to be on the virge of growing out of their clothes. We asked the older lady who was with them if she could use a two for one coupon that my sister had which she graciously accepted. With the coupon, we handed her the envelope with the $50 and the words "From Gracepoint". I explained that our church was doing a reverse tithing and to have a Great Day. One of the young girls took the envelope and quickly looked inside. I wish I could have taken a picture at that very moment. Her eyes lit up as she looked at the lady with her and the lady was speechless. When we left the two young girls and the lady, they were still looking at the envelope in surprise. How Fun!
2nd: After tear down on Sunday's we often go to the Pizza Hut buffet to grab a quik lunch. We often have the same kind waitress. Every Sunday, it appears that she is the only one running in circles while the other employees are busy chatting about their week or other social issues. The 2nd week of February we were late with the tear down and missed the buffet so we had to have a special order. We had the same waitress and as usual she was very sweet and always with a smile. We left her with a $50 tip and an extra smile. We Love This!
3rd: Katie had a sleepover for a Birthday party so Austin was able to play like an only child for an evening. Armed with a $10 dollar coupon, we decided to treat him to a dinner out at Granite City. When our waitress appeared she seemed to be in a slump. First impression worried us if she would make it through the evening. However, after much heckeling from Matt and kind Thank You's she seem to turn her night around and turned out to be a great waitress with great advise as what to try. She even brought small samples of beer for Matt so he could decide what he wanted. He is too spoiled! By the time we were ready to leave she had won our hearts. Her name was Sarah!! We gave her the coupon so that she could subtract it from our bill. Our tip consisted of the $10 we saved and our last $50. I hope she will keep her great smile when she thinks of us.
We have had so much fun with this that we have decided to do a random act of kindness each month. At the beginning of each month we will place a $50 in an envelope and give it as a "Random Act of Kindness" to the next recipient. Too Much Fun for The Taylors!!!!
